MARCH STONE HILL MEETING
The March 8 Stone Hill meeting will be at Adrain
Barton's new house at 5116 E. 120th Ave., Tampa. The phone there is 813-989-0665.
Just a reminder for everyone: please be respectful of the homes in which we hold our meetings. Occasionally, we get a little lax and make a big mess of someone's home that he or she is left with when the fun is over. Let's be sure to clean up after ourselves.
If everyone helps, nobody has to do a lot. It's simply the friendly way.
NECRONOMICON NOTES
We have our first confirmed guest of honor for this
year's NECRONOMICON. C.J. Cherryh has graciously accepted our invitation. Guess
what? Ms. Cherryh has a web page. It's a nice one too. On it, you can find out what she's writing now and see some of her art work. You cat lovers can see pictures of her pets as well.
I hope to have more guest news for you next month. I've just sent out the invitations to our usual suspects, uh, Florida writers, and should be able to give you list of who is going to be with us soon. I also hope to have word about a second guest of honor.
VIDCON & CONGAMES
Remember that these two conventions will be held the last weekend of July this year. While they are not combined, they will share the same hotel and the dealers room will be a joint venture. If you have ideas for the folks in charge of either VIDCON (our fanzine convention) or CONGAMES (gaming) or would like to help out at the conventions, please let them know. You can get in touch with Debra Hicks (VIDCON) by e-mail at 74367.312@compuserve.com, or by phone at 813-677-6347. Dean and Heather Dryer (CONGAMES) can be contacted by e-mail at
Heather@ stonehill.org or Dean@ stonehill.org or by phone at 813-903-0390. You can also write to any of these folks care of Stone Hill, P.O. Box 2076, Riverview, FL 33568.
Dealers room questions should be directed to Rolaine Smoot at the P.O. Box or by phone at 813-684-1144.
SOME VALENTINE'S GOODIES
If you want to make a lovely little chocky treat for
your sweetheart, here's an easy, very fudgy brownie recipe for you. I recommend
refrigerating this one. You don't have to but it's awfully good cold. It truly is like a nice
smooth, soft fudge.
FUDGY BROWNIES
2 sticks margarine
5 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 & ¾
cups sugar
¼ tsp. salt
4 eggs
1 cup flour
¾ cup nuts
¾
cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces
Grease (or use cooking spraywhat I prefer) a 13" X 9" pan.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large, glass mixing bowl melt the margarine and chocolate together in the microwave set on "high" for two minutes. If you don't have a microwave, melt them in a large, heavy pot on top of the stove at medium high heat. Stir often if you are using the stove top method. After removing the chocolate and margarine from microwave, stir till chocolate is completely melted. Add sugar and salt. Stir. Add eggs and stir with a whisk to mix them into the chocolate thoroughly. Add flour and stir till smooth. Pour into pan. Sprinkle with nuts and chocolate pieces. Bake at 350 degrees for 34 minutes. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.
